What are cache and cookies?

A cookie, in the context of web technology, is like a virtual name tag for your online identity. It's a tiny file that holds information about you, which websites store on your device. This information can include your preferences, login credentials, and browsing history. Cookies are like digital handshakes; they help websites recognise you when you return, allowing for a more personalised browsing experience.

On the other hand, web caching is behind-the-scenes that makes your internet experience faster and more efficient. When you visit a website, it doesn't always fetch all its content from the webserver. Instead, it caches some of it on your device or on intermediary servers strategically placed around the internet.

Both HTTP cookies and web caching are integral parts of the modern internet experience. While cookies personalise your online interactions, caching ensures that you can access web content quickly and efficiently. They work together to enhance the user experience, making your web journeys smoother and more enjoyable.

Why do you need to clear cache and cookies from your browser?

Frequently clearing of your browser's cache and temporary internet files not only enhances the optimal functioning of your computer or device but also acts as a remedy for resolving specific issues, such as website not loading or formatting glitches on web pages.

  2. Click onto the 3 dots in the right hand corner

3. Click onto Settings

4. then click onto Privacy and security

5. On the right hand side, click onto Clear browsing data

6. Make sure you have 'Cookies and other site data' and 'Cached images and files' ticked then click onto 'Clear data'
